An offer is only as sound as the operator behind it, and the first question is whether that operator is licensed to serve Great Britain.

Safe and legal betting, trusted sites, secure apps and the “not on GAMSTOP” phrases are covered. Such phrases name operators without a Great Britain licence; they do not describe a benefit.

Before the first bet, free bets included, a licensed operator verifies identity (name, address, date of birth); it also belongs to GAMSTOP. For the operator, offering betting to Great Britain customers without a licence is an offence under section 33 of the Gambling Act 2005. An offence for the customer alone has not been identified, but the customer is left unprotected.
